One of my favorite plays.
While many today would say that any misfortune surrounding a production is mere coincidence, actors and other theatre people often consider it bad luck to mention Macbeth by name while inside a theatre, and sometimes refer to it indirectly, for example as “the Scottish play”, or “MacBee”, or when referring to the character and not the play, “Mr. and Mrs. M”, or “The Scottish King”.
This is because Shakespeare (or the play’s revisers) are said to have used the spells of real witches in his text, purportedly angering the witches and causing them to curse the play. Thus, to say the name of the play inside a theatre is believed to doom the production to failure, and perhaps cause physical injury or death to cast members. There are stories of accidents, misfortunes and even deaths taking place during runs of Macbeth. (Wikipedia)

Ada satu episode yang gw keinget, and it actually cemented my disdain to the serial, ketika Penny menegur Howard dengan keras karena Howard sering banget nyeletuk celetukan melecehkan secara seksual dan membayang-bayangi Penny (unsolicited advances). Ujungnya? Howard marah. MARAH, men. MARAH. Dia marah lalu ngambek, dan Penny yang akhirnya meminta maaf ke Howard.
Bingung ga sih? Di sini siapa yang borderline sexual offender dan siapa yang korban, dan kenapa si korban — yaitu Penny — yang harus minta maaf ke Howard? Lalu orang pada bingung kenapa korban pelecehan seksual ga mau lapor? Lalu orang pada heran kenapa banyak banget pelaku pelecehan seksual ngerasa “gw ga salah kok LOL”?

Nonton dokumenter ‘Tokyo Idols’ di Netflix.
Gimana ya… Mirip lah sama dokumenter-dokumenter/jurnalisme investigasi soal tren idol dari Jepang ini. Kritik sosial akan para fans idol yang rata-rata oom-oom dengan para idol yang usianya masih belasan tahun, perjuangan para idol untuk tetap relevan di mata fans, dan sebagainya.
Gw lebih penasaran dengan perspektif fans wanita. Kalo fans laki-laki ya mereka emang terobsesi dan sudah komitmen menghabiskan sejumlah besar uang untuk CD, merchandise, handshake event, sampe tiket live shows. Gw penasaran apakah fans wanita sama komitmennya. Sayangnya kaya gini ini jarang/ga pernah dibahas.
