I donβt know if I should be proud or crying about this drawing.
The prompt is βTickβ and immediately I thought of clock tower (tick-tock.) Now, I never seen a clock tower in my life. Well, maybe I had, but never the ones you see in picture books β the ones you see on European-style rural village. Heck, I never been to Europe either.
Then, somehow I had this βgeniusβ idea of βtrying perspective drawing,β conveniently forgetting the fact that Iβm struggling with it. I mean, Iβm not even an art student or formally study art and architecture β and doing it feels like foreseeing me bundled up and crying the corner.
Midway drawing, I almost cried (βTHE CLOCK FACE IS WRONG!β) β but I would be lying if Iβm saying Iβm not proud of this drawing.
Iβm proud of it. Iβm hella proud of it. I pushed myself by starting a, βhey, what ifβ¦β and decided to move forward.
Hereβs for more learning and improvements on perspective drawing!
Iβm frustrated. I found myself having difficulties drawing Little Catβs facial feature and expression. Iβm not satisfied with this drawing, and I feel I can improve more on this (filing this under Redraw Series after Inktober.)
My favorite part on this drawing is the frog, though.
Once upon a time, Batara Kala looked at the Moon and thinking that the Moon looks so yummy and decided to take a bite out of it.
Little did Batara Kala know, the Moon is actually a lemon and itβs really sour! Poor Batara Kala.
Read more about Batara Kala and the myth of eclipse (Javanese myth) here.
This piece is inspired by the Javanese lore and partly from my old work (Inktober 2018) β Batara Chandra (The God of the Moon) fighting against Batara Kala.
This is my personal blog, so anything goes. This blog has been around since 2014, which means you would, and could, see my past writings with different perspectives and mindsets at that time. While I tried to tidy things up here, I personally feel that things should not be too “clean” or polished. You see me grow and learn in this blog. This blog is a record-keeping of what I was, what I am, and what I will be. What I wrote in the past might not reflect who I am right now, nor me revisiting the topic.
While things here are generally PG-13, I must remind you that I’m an adult, which means some topics might be too heavy for younger readers.
I want to develop themes that sing praises for the 2000s. I always feel we could have a bit more 2000s-era whimsy.
