As cliche as it sounds: Remember, remember the fifth of November.
I must say, the quote feels even more poignant now, as we are witnessing the electric joy all the way from the USA when the country engulfed in Blue as the mid-term voting result rolled in. Perhaps “destroy a government” would be not entirely true (also, considering V’s belief in anarchism), but we can’t deny there are waves of hope for a better change.
How about Indonesia? As Indonesian netizens looked at their phone screens, seeing the joy and happiness from US folks, and here we are, Indonesians, sighing and muttering, “when yah…”
I mean, we still have the fires blazing in Papua, then suddenly we heard news like Indonesia deploys thousands of troops after generals arrested over wiretapping allegations, which, honestly, it feels like a parade of showing off these bastards’ genitalia just to get closer to the top (I know. Ew.)
The wiretapping incident itself was part of the ongoing conflict between two groups in the government: Voldembrot (Hambalang) and the previous president (Solo). Unfortunately, no, NOBODY involved actually give two shits about Indonesian people. This is merely a battle of greed and cruelty of whoever getting the most power, and the people are left to fend off and survive for themselves.
We will still march down, though. We have, and we will continue.
