• Two Dots

I used to play this game (Two Dots) until I stopped roughly 5-6 years ago.

The reason? I played this game during my first trimester of my pregnancy with Rey.

The song used to trigger my acid reflux and near-vomit experiences. I remember when I picked up the game again after Rey was born, I almost re-served my dinner that I just digested.

It was until a couple of weeks ago I replayed this game.

And no acid reflux. Only mighty annoyance because the gosh dang fire balls just burn everything in sight.

(Oh. And Rey plays this game too.)

  • The generation that went through a pandemic

Several days ago, Wira asked me. “Can I get tested?”

    “… what test?”

    “Covid test.”

    “Why?”

“I’m not feeling well. I want to know if it’s Covid.”

We checked his temperature and his overall conditions, and we found out him not feeling well was actually due to lack of sleep (he has been sleeping late lately,) so no Covid. Thankfully.

It made me wonder, though. Wira and Rey both growing up, and spending a good chunk of the time, in the middle of the pandemic. For Wira, I feel the effect has been more profound as he is able to remember and comprehend of what is going on around him.

Wira and his peers. His generation. What kind of arts, writings, songs, plays, mindsets, and perspectives that coming out from his generation. The generation that witness the horror of a pandemic in such a young age. The generation that losing years of their childhood and grasping so many things at the same time.

(This writing is inspired after I read Seth Godin’s post “Generation C”)

  • Toys

It was 10:30 PM, you just finished your Zoom call with your colleague who lived two oceans away (because distributed working and timezones), the house was almost dark (“almost”, because there was still some lights from the kitchen,) and you walked to your front door to lock it.

Then you almost screamed because you freaking hate house lizards — add it with you being superstitious that stepping on house lizard, or having a house lizard fell on you, is deemed as bad luck AS IF ACCIDENTALLY STEPPED ON A LIZARD IS NOT BAD ENOUGH — but everyone in the house already fast asleep so you… just… ?screaming in silence?

    Because, yes.

    The worst part?

The “lizard” is actually your kids’ toy.

A crocodile, even. From their zoo collections.

  • A month too late, but I just stumbled upon IKEA France’s Tiktok video, hinting a possible collab with Animal Crossing. Unfortunately, no further information about this other than IGN picked up this news when the video was posted.
